Job summary

Google is seeking a Hardware Operations Manager to lead a Data Center Technicians team responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server hardware and components. The role oversees networked hardware deployments, complex installations, and ongoing reliability across facilities.

The position requires 10 years of technical team leadership and 5 years in site-level data center operations, with proficiency in Linux and networking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining hardware servers and its components.
  • 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role.
  • 5 years of experience in site-level data center operational leadership.
  • Experience with different operating systems (e.g., Linux) and developing network architecture.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the site-level server operations team, ensuring all priorities are consistent with global company objectives.
  • Implement and drive a safety culture at the site, advocating Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives to foster a secure, and collaborative environment.
  • Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of managers and technicians; actively lead succession planning and build a talent pipeline.
  • Manage localized metrics, including KPIs, SLAs, and SLOs, while identifying opportunities for process optimization.
  • Align and guide site partners—including Facilities (DCOps), Security, GSO-L, Construction (DCS) and NetOps to ensure seamless operational coordination without direct reporting authority.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.


US: $205000 - $285000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
