Google is seeking a Hardware Operations Manager to lead a team of Data Center Technicians responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and networking components across Google's data centers.
You will hire, coach, and develop staff, align priorities with stakeholders, and implement short- and long-term strategies while ensuring security and reliability of critical infrastructure. The role may require off-hours support and travel as needed.
Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting.
Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). They will also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. They may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.
As a Data Center Operations Manager, you will be managing a technical team and overseeing data center and facility operations to meet organizational goals and Service Level Objectives (SLOs). Your key responsibilities include hiring, coaching, and developing staff, setting team priorities, and partnering with stakeholders to implement short- and long-term strategies. You will execute security and operational procedures, analyze trends for improvement, and perform direct preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and infrastructure. Additionally, the position requires supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance programs and may involve providing management support during off-hours.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $138000 - $200000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
