Description

As a Data Center Manager in Amazon, you will manage the world’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure. We encounter interesting, challenging, and complex problems daily. Being a technical manager in Amazon means you can innovate to solve these issues and help drive Operations Excellence across your role.

You will be a proven manager with experience managing high-performing teams. You should be capable of refining and developing processes to optimize operational excellence, driving performance to meet our data center operational standards. Previous experience in data centers—building or managing—is required, along with the ability to foster strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors.

Key job responsibilities

• Managing and developing teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise, and ensuring high performance.
• Maintaining existing Data Centers.
• Assisting with building and bringing online new Data Centers.
• Continuously improving processes and procedures.
• Managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
• Collaborating with internal teams and management.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Creating and analyzing metrics to drive improvements.
• Implementing service management methodologies such as incident, problem, change, and capacity management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of professional/military experience in an IT-related field.
• 2+ years managing people in a technical environment with on-call rotations and after-hours support.
• 2+ years experience with Networking or Computer hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Data Center Management experience.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills.
• Experience with behavioral interviewing and hiring.
• Certifications like Prince2, PMP, or Agile.
• Knowledge of AWS products such as EC2, EBS, S3, and infrastructure/system redundancy.
