Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team oversees the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure powering its search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Data Center Technicians and manage the installation and troubleshooting of server hardware and components to ensure quality and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Must have a technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years leading technical, vendor, or delivery teams.
  • At least 5 years experience with computing infrastructure, networking, OS, or hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals, setting and communicating priorities that support organizational goals and provide performance feedback.
  • Work with teams to identify and resolve problems related to global computing and network architecture.
  • Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures; track trends to identify improvements.
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure.
  • Support and contribute to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance initiatives.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.
  • 5 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management and service delivery.
  • Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure, network and compute architecture and life-cycle, and Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Experience with initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
  • Demonstrated strong performance and experience with data gathering, analysis and presentation skills.
  • Track record of leading and improving Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $122000 - $173000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of individuals, setting and communicating individual and team priorities that support organizational goals while meeting regularly with individuals to discuss performance, development, provide feedback and coaching.
  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture.
  • Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives in collaboration with other teams to ensure environmental and safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.
