Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Data Center Administrator to build and manage our data center infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The role involves deploying servers, networks, and power systems, and collaborating with the infrastructure team on strategy.

Responsibilities include rack and cable management, hardware lifecycle, QA testing, and coordinating with procurement for equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or 3+ years of data center experience in lieu of a degree.
• 1+ year of data center experience or IT hardware experience.
• Experience with Linux and Windows servers and DCIM is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Resolve operational, infrastructure or hardware incidents in multiple data centers.
• Manage complete lifecycle for data center hardware, including deployment, operation, and decommission.
• Physically rack and cable data center equipment.
• Track and logically organize the physical storage of incoming data center equipment.
• Perform quality assurance testing and resolve recurring issues.
• Schedule and track hardware maintenance tasks.
• Update port maps and rack layouts and create operational procedures.
• Monitor environmental conditions and power/cooling systems to optimize for servers and devices.
• Run hardware diagnostics and replace failing parts in a timely manner.
• Upgrade internal system components, including CPUs, memory, and storage.
• Setup and operate common Linux and Windows servers.
• Document processes and keep event logs.
• Work with the purchasing department on the procurement of new data center equipment.
