Job summary

Blue Signal is seeking a Data Center MEP Superintendent to lead daily field operations on large-scale mission-critical construction projects in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will coordinate MEP sequencing, procurement, and subcontractor performance while ensuring safety, quality and schedule.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial construction with data center experience, a bachelor’s degree in CM or engineering, and strong leadership with clear communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience with MEP focus.
• Experience on mission critical or data center projects preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in CM/engineering or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations for MEP scopes on mission critical construction projects.
• Coordinate sequencing, manpower planning and material procurement.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules with short-term look-ahead plans.
• Oversee subcontractor performance to align with scope, schedule and quality.
• Facilitate preconstruction and coordination meetings with teams and trade partners.
• Monitor progress and resolve field issues proactively.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards and safety requirements.
• Communicate updates, risks and milestones to stakeholders.
• Drive quality control through inspections and adherence to standards.
• Support labor planning, workforce coordination and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily field operations for MEP scopes on mission critical construction projects
• Coordinate construction sequencing, manpower planning, and material procurement
• Partner with project leadership to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including short-term look-ahead plans
• Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and quality expectations
• Facilitate preconstruction and coordination meetings with internal teams and trade partners
• Monitor installation progress, proactively identifying and resolving field issues
• Ensure compliance with construction documents, codes, and safety standards
• Communicate project updates, risks, and milestones to stakeholders and leadership
• Drive quality control efforts through regular inspections and adherence to standards
• Support labor planning, workforce coordination, and productivity optimization

Qualifications:

• 5 plus years of experience in commercial construction, with a focus on MEP systems
• Proven experience on mission critical or data center projects strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, and sequencing
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades
• Knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with construction management software tools is a plus
• Willingness to work on-site and support project demands
