Job summary

Ajax Building Company is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead planning and execution of data center construction projects in Charlotte, NC. You will coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection scopes with the Project Manager, field leadership, and trade partners to align schedules and budgets.

You will manage MEP subcontractors, review shop drawings and RFIs, monitor costs, support commissioning, and ensure successful turnover of complex building systems

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction project management with a focus on MEP scopes.
• Experience supporting mission critical / data center projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including coordination and commissioning processes.
• Experience working with MEP subcontractors, equipment procurement, and technical documentation.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, procure, install, and commission MEP systems.
• Manage MEP subcontractors and vendors to meet contract, schedule, and quality.
• Partner with the Project Manager and Superintendent to integrate MEP scopes into the master project schedule.
• Lead MEP coordination with design teams, consultants, and trade partners (BIM/VDC).
• Review MEP shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and procurement logs for timely delivery.
• Track and manage MEP-related costs, change orders, and budget impacts with project leadership.
• Support commissioning activities and turnover documentation.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to MEP systems and long-lead equipment.
• Maintain strong communication with internal teams and stakeholders.
