Job summary

Millennium leads the design and operation of critical data center MEP systems in a high-density environment. The role focuses on end-to-end design, commissioning, and continuous improvement of liquid cooling infrastructure, including direct liquid cooling, cold-plate assemblies, and rear-door heat exchangers across global sites.

The engineer will develop hydraulic models, perform thermal simulations, and coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure reliable UPS, PDU, and switchgear

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on data center MEP engineering experience.
  • Experience designing and commissioning liquid cooling technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of chilled water, glycol, and refrigerant-based cooling.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE TC 9.9, Uptime Institute Tier, EN 50600 and NFPA 70.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design, commissioning, operation and improvement of liquid cooling infrastructure.
  • Develop hydraulic models, heat-load calculations, and thermal simulations for high-density racks.
  • Define liquid cooling distribution architecture and integration with chillers or dry-coolers.
  • Oversee design, commissioning, and maintenance of critical mechanical systems (chillers, AHUs, CRAC/CRAH).
  • Support electrical infrastructure design (UPS, PDU, switchgear, generators).
  • Act as Owner’s Engineer for MEP capital projects, manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Maintain documentation (MOPs, SOPs, EOPs) and support risk assessments and audits.

The global Network & Data Center organization supports Millennium’s expanding data center portfolio and critical infrastructure, with responsibility for resilient mechanical, electrical, and cooling systems that enable high-density compute environments.What You'll DoLead the end-to-end design, commissioning, operation, and continuous improvement of liquid cooling infrastructure, including direct liquid cooling, cold-plate assemblies, rear-door heat exchangers, and related systemsDevelop hydraulic models, heat-load calculations, and thermal simulations to validate cooling capacity for high-density rack deploymentsDefine and maintain liquid cooling distribution architecture, including cooling distribution units, manifolds, secondary loops, leak detection, and integration with chilled water or adiabatic dry-cooler plantsOversee the design, commissioning, lifecycle management, and maintenance of critical mechanical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, dry coolers, CRAC and CRAH units, air handling units, and humidification systemsSupport the design, review, and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure, including UPS systems, PDUs, switchgear, generators, transfer switches, and distribution boardsAct as Owner’s Engineer for MEP capital projects, managing contractor designs, RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, costs, risks, and equipment acceptance testingMaintain critical-facility documentation, including MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, engineering standards, design guides, and commissioning records, while supporting change management and risk assessmentsMonitor infrastructure performance and capacity, drive efficiency improvements, support audits and compliance requirements, and report key availability, capacity, PUE, and WUE metrics to senior leadershipWhat You Bring5+ years of hands-on data center MEP engineering experience in enterprise, hyperscale, or colocation environments; experience in financial services or other mission-critical environments is a plusDemonstrated experience designing and commissioning at least one liquid cooling technology, including direct liquid cooling, cold-plate, rear-door heat exchanger, or immersion cooling solutionsStrong mechanical engineering knowledge of chilled water, glycol, and refrigerant-based cooling systems, including pump sizing, pipe stress, flow analysis, cooling distribution units, secondary-loop hydraulics, and leak detectionWorking knowledge of critical electrical systems, including UPS topology, generator sizing, switchgear, PDUs, single-line diagrams, and integrated systems testingExperience delivering MEP capital projects from design through commissioning and operational handoffFamiliarity with ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines, Uptime Institute Tier methodology, EN 50600, NFPA 70, IEC 60364, and applicable building and electrical safety requirementsProficiency with CAD or BIM tools such as AutoCAD or Revit MEP and thermal-modeling tools such as 6SigmaDC, Future Facilities, or comparable platformsStrong documentation, project coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently across global sites and travel up to 30%The estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
