Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Data Center Technician to perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs inside a Data Center environment. You will support mechanical and engineering systems, monitor BMS alarms, and assist with inspections and servicing.

This role requires an apprenticeship or technical training plus 1-2 years of related experience, with flexibility for shifts including weekends. You will work with vendors, follow safety procedures, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

  • Training in a Technical discipline with apprenticeship or equivalent and 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role.
  • Effective communication to present information to internal teams and clients.
  • Basic math skills for simple calculations (percentages, discounts, markups).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on data center equipment.
  • Assist with daily site inspections of Mechanical & Engineering systems and equipment.
  • Respond to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and ensure compliance with processes and laws.
  • Maintain safety and quality records and complete assigned work per procedures.

About The Role

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
  • React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
  • Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDU's and utilities.
  • Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.
  • Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
What You’ll Need:
  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to Meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • To effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Data Center Technician position is $80,000 annually or $38.46/hr and the maximum salary of $95,000 annually or 45.67/hr . The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on their skills, qualifications, and experience.
