Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for Data Center Design Engineering to design and innovate mechanical distribution systems for a rapidly expanding data center footprint.

You will develop equipment specs and construction documents, supporting uptime, cost and schedule goals. This role collaborates with internal teams and external vendors, reviews submittals, assists commissioning, and may travel up to 20% to site locations, while applying hydronics, air distribution

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of qualifying experience.
• 6+ years of experience in engineering design or construction, related to mechanical systems (hydronics, air distribution, plumbing).
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering for data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Understand user requirements with internal teams.
• Design data center mechanical systems and collaborate to create construction documents.
• Create designs meeting quality and budget requirements.
• Specify appropriate mechanical equipment with regional vendors.
• Define site utility requirements with local utilities.
• Ensure compliance with city/county codes with local agencies.
• Review and approve equipment submittals.
• Define project scopes and provide technical support during construction.
• Support commissioning to validate installation and performance.
• Work on concurrent projects across regions and travel as needed.
• Collaborate with onsite field engineers and international teams.
