Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics with extensive field experience in commercial HVACR service.

You will work on rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, and chillers, performing maintenance, repair and installation of comprehensive mechanical systems. The role requires eight years of in-depth trouble-shooting experience in commercial/industrial settings, certification, and a valid EPA refrigerant license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years commercial/industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC.
• Experience with centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, ammonia/hydrocarbon systems.
• EPA refrigerant license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.
• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
• Travel 10% to 20% to support branch customers and on-site service.
• Communicate clearly problem, cause and corrective actions to customers.
• Work with other local mechanics and apprentices and participate in on-the-job training.

Job description

How will you do it

We are looking for skilled HVAC Mechanics who have practical work experience in their trade, (HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting and /or mechanical equipment service industry).

Mechanics must have practical work experience in light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. May be required to satisfactorily pass an examination to identify special skills. Scope of work shall be limited to commercial HVACR service. Servicemen may partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers and ammonia systems. Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.

Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

Required

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system trouble shooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.
• Minimum of Eight (8) years Commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry and Industrial Petrochemical, or Data Center vertical environments. This includes Rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
• Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and/or ammonia / hydrocarbon system components.
• Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Able to install complete systems, (Chillers, Rooftop Units, plumbing and all supporting mechanical systems).
• Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser etc. of pumps, fans, Compressors.
• Able to use vibration equipment to trouble shoot drivelines.
• Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers activities, trouble shooting, installation and repair.
• You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

*This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Pay Rate: $43.05 Hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.

This is a Bargaining Unit Position but is subject to all pre-hiring screening of JCI. With successful performance, JCI may recommend you to the Union Local apprenticeship program, as well as continued employment at JCI. Acceptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or will result in termination of this position. This is not a guaranty of employment or entering the Union. The Union has its own entry, qualification & screening programs.
