Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Center Mech Svc Tech Journeyman to support HVAC service for commercial and data center environments in Franklin, TN. The role involves troubleshooting, installation, repair, and customer-facing quotes, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting in data center or petrochemical environments.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
• Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, ammonia/hydrocarbon systems.
• Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license and active state/local licensing.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance, repair and replacement on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot system issues and perform service calls for customers.
• Provide quotes to customers and support sales quoting.
• Coordinate with local mechanics and apprentices; on‑the‑job training when needed.
• Document issues, causes and corrective actions clearly for customers.

May be required to satisfactorily pass an examination to identify special skills. Scope of work shall be limited to commercial HVACR service. Servicemen may partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers and ammonia systems. Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.**Ready to Roll - Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time as part of the Travel Team is required.****What we look for****Required*** Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.* Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system trouble shooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.* Minimum of Eight (8) years Commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry and Industrial Petrochemical, or Data Center vertical environments. This includes Rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.* Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and/or ammonia / hydrocarbon system components.* Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.* Able to install complete systems, (Chillers, Rooftop Units, plumbing and all supporting mechanical systems).* Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser etc. of pumps, fans, Compressors.* Able to use vibration equipment to trouble shoot drivelines.* Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers activities, trouble shooting, installation and repair.* You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.* Opportunity to invest in career development. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
