Job summary

CBTS is seeking a GPU Deployment Engineer to travel nationwide and lead onsite installation and bring-up of GPU server infrastructure. You will work with a local smart-hands team to install hardware, cabling, and ensure systems power on prior to turnover.

The role requires hands-on GPU server experience, familiarity with MPO/MTP cabling, and the ability to lead a small onsite team while managing schedule and risk communications.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The GPU Deployment Engineer will travel to customer sites nationwide to lead onsite installation and bring-up of GPU server infrastructure. This role works alongside a local third-party smart-hands team to physically install hardware, complete cabling, and validate that systems power on and function correctly before turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to deployment sites across the U.S. (up to 80% during rollout).
• Lead onsite installation activities for GPU servers, switches, and related hardware, directing a local smart-hands team as needed.
• Perform rack-and-stack of GPU servers and network switches.
• Install, dress, and label cabling, including MPO/MTP fiber and standard Ethernet.
• Conduct power-on self-testing (POST) and basic hardware validation to confirm equipment is functioning prior to site closeout.
• Support site surveys, deployment kickoff, and closeout activities.
• Document findings, communicate installation status, and **escalate** schedule or quality risks.
• Coordinate travel and expenses per PM-provided schedule and budget.
• Complete onboarding and ride-along with an experienced resource before working independently.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience installing GPU servers, switches, or AI/HPC compute infrastructure.
• Experience with MPO/MTP and structured fiber/Ethernet cabling — installation, dressing, labeling.
• Familiarity with power-on self-testing (POST) or hardware bring-up/validation.
• Comfortable leading or directing a small onsite team, including third-party smart-hands resources.
• Strong communication, documentation, and issue-escalation skills.
• Willing and able to travel frequently throughout the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GPU platforms (e.g., Nvidia DGX/HGX or similar AI/ML server hardware).
• Experience supervising subcontractors or smart-hands vendors.
