Job summary

Hunted International in Texas is seeking a hands-on Data Center Infrastructure Technician to support day-to-day operation, maintenance, deployment, and troubleshooting of critical data center infrastructure.

You will work on-site in a mission-critical environment, handle rack-and-stack, cabling, power, cooling, and asset management, and collaborate with engineering, facilities, and vendors to keep systems secure and highly available.

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Data Center Infrastructure Technician to support the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, deployment, and troubleshooting of critical data center infrastructure.

This position will work on‑site in a mission‑critical environment and will be responsible for helping ensure that server, network, cabling, power, cooling, and supporting infrastructure remain operational, secure, and highly available.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced technical environment where reliability, attention to detail, safety, and rapid response to infrastructure issues are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot data center infrastructure and equipment.
• Perform rack‑and‑stack activities for servers, networking equipment, storage systems, and related hardware.
• Install and manage copper and fiber‑optic cabling, including patching, labeling, testing, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot server, hardware, network, cabling, and connectivity issues.
• Support equipment moves, additions, changes, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.
• Conduct routine inspections of data center infrastructure and identify potential operational issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
• Monitor infrastructure systems and respond to alarms, alerts, and incidents.
• Support power distribution systems including PDUs, UPS systems, and related critical power infrastructure.
• Assist with monitoring cooling and environmental systems including temperature, humidity, and airflow.
• Support the installation and replacement of hardware components including drives, memory, power supplies, switches, and network equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory and asset‑management records.
• Update service tickets, maintenance records, incident reports, and technical documentation.
• Escalate critical issues to engineering, facilities, network, or management teams where appropriate.
• Work with internal technical teams, vendors, contractors, and third‑party service providers.
• Follow change‑management and incident‑management procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized, and secure technical environments.
• Follow all site safety, security, access‑control, and operational policies.
• Participate in emergency response and infrastructure recovery activities where required.
• Assist with capacity planning, equipment placement, and infrastructure utilization.
• Support commissioning and testing of newly installed infrastructure when required.
• Identify opportunities to improve data center reliability, efficiency, and operational processes.

Required Qualifications

• Previous hands‑on experience working in a data center, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, IT infrastructure, or similar technical environment.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting servers, network hardware, or data center equipment.
• Working knowledge of structured cabling, including copper and fiber.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts including TCP/IP, switches, routers, and network connectivity.
• Familiarity with data center rack layouts and equipment deployment.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and efficiently.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety and operational procedures.
• Ability to read technical documentation, diagrams, rack elevations, and equipment specifications.
• Strong documentation and record‑keeping skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider operations team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in hyperscale, colocation, cloud, enterprise, or mission‑critical data center environments.
• Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, PDUs, generators, switchgear, or electrical distribution.
• Familiarity with HVAC, cooling, CRAC/CRAH systems, or other environmental infrastructure.
• Experience using DCIM, BMS, ticketing, or asset‑management platforms.
• Knowledge of data center monitoring and alarm‑management systems.
• Experience with hardware break/fix and component replacement.
• Understanding of redundancy concepts such as N+1, 2N, or fault‑tolerant infrastructure.
• Experience supporting commissioning, expansions, migrations, or new data center builds.

Certifications Considered an Asset

Relevant certifications may include:

• CompTIA A+
• CompTIA Network+
• BICSI certifications
• Data Center Certified Associate or similar data center certifications
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• Electrical or mechanical trade qualifications
• Fiber‑optic or structured cabling certifications

Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands‑on technical position within a data center environment.

Candidates should be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Work inside server rooms and technical spaces.
• Safely lift and move equipment weighing approximately 50 lbs.
• Work from ladders or within raised‑floor environments where required.
• Bend, crouch, reach, and work around installed infrastructure.
• Work in environments where equipment noise levels may be elevated.
• Follow appropriate PPE and site safety requirements.

This position is fully on‑site in Texas.

Depending on operational requirements, candidates may be required to:

• Participate in scheduled shift coverage.
• Work occasional nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation.
• Respond to critical incidents outside normal working hours.
• Work during scheduled maintenance windows.
