Job summary

Collabera Inc. in Mt Prospect, IL is seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to install and support data center infrastructure in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

You will perform physical installation, relocation, and removal of equipment, cabling, and related tasks; travel to data centers and colocation facilities; and participate in 24x7 operations, including training on first shift and later night coverage.

• Install, label, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Support data center adds, moves, and changes.
• Travel to company data center and colocation facilities as required.
• Support a 24x7x365 operation, including the ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work safely on ladders and in raised floor or overhead cable environments.
• Follow established safety procedures and data center standards during installation and maintenance.

Job description

Duration: 18 - 24 Months

Location: Mt Prospect, IL 60056

Work Schedule

Primary schedule: Third shift, 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM CT.

Monday through Friday nights during training.

Training will take place on first shift (Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM CT) for the first few weeks to months.

After training, the schedule will be adjusted to provide coverage on Saturday or Sunday nights based on business needs.

Job Summary

This position requires a hands-on individual with experience installing and supporting data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment and performing physical installation and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Perform the physical installation, relocation, and removal of data center equipment, including servers, network switches, storage systems, racks, and structured cabling.

Install, label, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling.

Support data center adds, moves, and changes.

Travel to company data center and colocation facilities as required.

Support a 24x7x365 operation, including the ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work comfortably and safely on ladders and in raised floor or overhead cable environments.

Follow established safety procedures and data center operational standards while performing installation and maintenance activities.

Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skill, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a production data center environment.

Required Skill

Preferred Skill

Electrical or low-voltage wiring experience.

Experience in the trades.
