Job summary

KCI Telecommunications is seeking a Data Center Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain low voltage systems in a high-security data center environment. The role focuses on cabling, fiber optics, and network equipment installation within a fast-paced facility.

The technician will read blueprints, test installations, and ensure adherence to ANSI/TIA/EIA and BICSI standards while coordinating with engineers and electricians. Flex hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
• Experience installing and maintaining low voltage cabling and networking equipment, preferably in a data center.
• Proficiency with cable testing tools and network equipment.
• Strong understanding of ANSI/TIA/EIA and BICSI.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling, including Cat5e/6/6A, fiber optic, and coaxial cables in data center environments.
• Install and mount networking equipment such as routers, switches, patch panels, and firewalls in server racks.
• Perform cable management, labeling, and patching according to standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cabling and networking equipment, performing tests.
• Collaborate with data center engineers, electricians, and team members to coordinate installations and upgrades.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Maintain safety and security, following data center protocols.
• Keep accurate records of installations, updates, and repairs.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies relevant to low voltage systems.

The ideal candidate has experience working with low voltage cabling, fiber optics, and network equipment installation, adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
