Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to perform repair and maintenance for facilities and related equipment, ensuring heating and air conditioning systems comply with codes. This on-site role supports data center operations with a focus on reliability and safety.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in HVAC within data centers or critical facilities, EPA certification, and the ability to read mechanical drawings.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED is required.
Five years of HVAC experience in data centers or mission-critical environments.
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification is required.
Valid driver's license is required.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on data center mechanical and HVAC systems.
Monitor environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, and airflow.
Diagnose and resolve HVAC failures with urgency to prevent IT impact.
Support 24x7 data center operations and on-call rotations.
Conduct space walkthroughs to identify issues and anomalies.
Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams in a high-availability environment.
Escalate complex HVAC issues affecting data centers as needed.
Oversee vendor/contractor HVAC work to ensure safety and standards.
Monitor alarms and trends via Building Management Systems.
Maintain accurate maintenance records in enterprise work order systems.
Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies; perform other duties.
Disclose processes and participate in continuous improvement.
