Job summary

Meter is seeking an engineer to design and implement a high-performance switch OS and firmware for data center products. You will work across engineering leadership, hardware, QA, and infrastructure teams to deliver widely deployed networking solutions.

In the first 6–12 months you will bring new switches to production, scale protocol implementations like BGP/ECMP/LACP/VXLAN/EVPN, and improve firmware release processes to pass a 30-day stress test with no crashes.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in writing and debugging embedded Linux software, firmware, or device drivers in C/C++.
• Experience with switching SDKs is a plus; familiarity with Golang or similar backend languages.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, L2/L3) is helpful.
• Desire to play an early and broadly influential role in Meter’s Data Center products.
• A mindset of curiosity and impact, with dependability, kindness, and autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a performant switch OS and firmware.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering leadership, hardware, QA, and infrastructure teams.
• Bring new switches to production by integrating and validating the switching chip SDK and ensuring all ports are operational.
• Scale our protocol implementations (BGP, ECMP, LACP, VXLAN, EVPN) across devices and networks.
• Improve firmware release processes and ensure stress-test readiness (30 days) without crashes or drops.
