Job summary

TEKsystems in Meridian, MS is seeking a Communications Technician I for a contract-to-hire position onsite. You will install outlets, run and manage low-voltage cabling, and support data-center infrastructure while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with fiber cabling, proper termination, and using a Fluke tester. Compensation starts at $22.00 per hour with eligibility for benefits after conversion.

Qualifications

• Experience with pulling and/or terminating fiber cabling.
• Experience working in a commercial environment. Data center is preferred.
• Experience using a Fluke Tester

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall outlets.
• Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.
• Route cable through modular furniture and perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables.
• Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.
• Build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware).
• Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Complete IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
• Adheres to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
