Job summary

Google is seeking a Facilities Technician for our data centers to operate, monitor, and support critical electrical and HVAC systems. You will inspect, maintain, and repair data center components, ensuring safety and efficiency while coordinating with technicians and contractors.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electrical operations or related fields, with hands-on experience in UPS, generators, and distribution systems. The role requires non-standard hours and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, and electrical distribution.
• Operate, monitor, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in electrical operations, operations management, electrical infrastructure systems and electrical maintenance (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Ability to participate in material handling tasks like lifting, carrying or moving upto 50 lbs of equipment, the required use of OSHA standard safety equipment like limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses.

Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environment or a related field.
• Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
• Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical systems used in a data center environment (e.g. MV/LV, Feeders, Transformers, Backup Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units).
• Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.

• Manage the uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
