Job summary

Global Trading Systems is seeking a hands-on Data Center Engineer to support the deployment, maintenance, and reliability of our physical infrastructure. The role requires strong server hardware, cabling, and networking skills and the ability to respond to time-sensitive issues in a high-availability environment.

Typical hours run after market close, with potential weekend work. NY/NJ area travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Data Center experience, financial services or telecom preferred.
• Degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related field.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise servers and network hardware.
• Proficient with copper, twinax, AOC, and fiber-optic cabling; understanding termination, testing, labeling, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical contact for data center infrastructure issues and hardware failures.
• Install, rack, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and replace servers and network equipment.
• Manage copper, twinax, AOC, and fiber cabling, ensuring organized installations.
• Administer rack-level power distribution, load balancing, and redundancy.
• Diagnose hardware, connectivity, and basic Linux/network issues with engineering teams.
• Maintain asset inventories, coordinate shipping/receiving, oversee installations and decommissioning.
• Coordinate with vendors and remote teams to support operations.
• Maintain clean, secure data center environments and SOPs.
