Overview
An established and rapidly expanding data center developer is seeking an experienced MEP Engineer specialising in hyperscale data center engineering to join its in-house team. This role offers a unique opportunity for professionals currently working in design consultancies to transition to the client side, gaining full lifecycle exposure and strategic influence over the development and delivery of mission-critical facilities.
This position is ideal for engineers who are ready to move beyond advisory roles and take ownership of technical decisions, standards, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and oversee mechanical and/or electrical design packages prepared by external consultants
- Collaborate with internal development and construction teams to ensure MEP systems meet project goals, cost benchmarks, and operational standards
- Provide technical input across the full project lifecycle including site assessments, concept development, detailed design, and commissioning
- Contribute to the development and refinement of scalable MEP design standards for repeated use across multiple sites
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and commissioning agents throughout procurement and delivery
- Troubleshoot and resolve design or performance issues in a dynamic, uptime-critical environment
- Serve as a subject matter expert for mechanical or electrical systems such as cooling, power distribution, and backup infrastructure
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of MEP design experience in a consultancy, design-build, or contractor setting in the data center space.
- Exposure to critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, healthcare, or labs is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and local building codes
- Strong coordination and communication skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams
- Proactive problem-solver with a hands-on mindset and attention to detail
