Job summary

UT-Battelle at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Government Computing Facility (GCF) data center project. You will provide electrical engineering, design oversight, field support, and technical coordination for a new data center facility in ORNL's New Facility Construction Group.

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical engineering or ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years in electrical engineering for new construction, renovation, plant operations, power distribution, and SCADA systems.
• Experience with design reviews, commissioning, field inspections, and issue resolution for facility electrical systems.
• Ability to coordinate with operations, construction, and facilities teams in a co-occupancy environment.
• Experience creating project documents from conception to closeout.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical engineering and design oversight for data center projects.
• Support planning, design, construction, commissioning, and turnover of electrical systems for mission-critical facilities.
• Develop and review project definitions, electrical system designs, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
• Review and approve electrical design documents, change orders, and material requisitions.
• Collaborate with telecom, power utility, facility automation, cybersecurity, operations, and safety teams.
• Identify and resolve design, safety, cost, schedule, and quality issues; ensure constructability and operability.
• Contribute to configuration control and as-built documentation in site databases.
• Uphold ORNL values and promote an inclusive, respectful workplace.
