Job description

Responsible for leading the design, engineering, and technical execution of electrical systems for mission-critical data center facilities. This role requires a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) with the ability to develop, review, and seal electrical engineering documents while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, client requirements, and project specifications. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in data center electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, medium- and low-voltage systems, standby power generation, UPS systems, and critical power redundancy.

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, construction managers, contractors, and clients, this individual will support projects from design development through construction, commissioning, and turnover. Responsibilities include providing technical oversight, resolving field and design issues, reviewing contractor submittals, conducting site evaluations, and ensuring electrical systems are safe, reliable, constructible, and aligned with project schedules and budgets. The role combines engineering leadership, practical construction knowledge, and professional accountability to deliver high-performance, scalable, and resilient data center infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Design and Implementation: Develop detailed electrical designs for data center facilities, including power distribution systems, lighting, and emergency backup systems.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with mechanical and civil engineering teams to integrate electrical systems with HVAC, fire suppression, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and national electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and IEC.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support for electrical systems, diagnosing issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including schematics, load calculations, and as-built drawings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and systems are delivered on time and within budget.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on data center or mission-critical facility design and construction.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and familiarity with power management systems (e.g., SCADA, BMS).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license Required; LEED accreditation or Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on data center or mission-critical facility design and construction.
