Job summary

Comcast is seeking an Engineer 2, Data Center Engineering to support deployment and day-to-day operations in a critical facility environment at our Northlake, IL data center. You will handle hardware installation, decommissioning, migrations, cabling, maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call support, working with cross-functional teams and vendors.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, documentation, and timely issue resolution while aligning with company standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
2–5+ years installing and supporting data center equipment.
Experience with high-speed data, voice, IP networks, and rack-mounted gear.

Responsibilities

Manage rack, stack, power, cabling, deployment, decommissioning, and migration of equipment within the critical facility.
Troubleshoot operational issues, support outage response activities, and coordinate issue closure with resources.
Coordinate change activities, maintenance, project execution, and schedules.
Maintain and troubleshoot structured cabling and day-to-day capacity requirements.
Develop and execute MOPs, procedures, and validation steps for safe work.
Participate in on-call rotation; respond to after-hours incidents and escalations.
Document incident details and follow-up actions for handoffs and RCA.
