Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group seeks a Commissioning Specialist to support Data Center commissioning. You will lead mechanical commissioning activities, conduct QA/QC testing, and oversee equipment/system start-up to ensure safety and design conformance.

The role demands 10+ years in mechanical commissioning, travel up to 50%, and strong knowledge of ASHRAE/NFPA standards, with a focus on collaborating with owners, clients, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience as a mechanical commissioning specialist in utilities, life safety, mechanical systems, plumbing, building/facility systems, and controls.
• 2-3 years focused on L2/L3 documentation and leading L4/L5 testing for Data Center commissioning.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA and Tab mechanical testing and code requirements.
• Understanding of the construction process.
• Must be able to clear a background check.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Participate in onsite activities to support Data Center commissioning projects.
• Lead and perform all mechanical commissioning activities including testing, start-up, and functional performance.
• Engage in L4-L5 commissioning while supporting L0-L3 activities with stakeholders.
• Work directly with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve optimal outcomes.

As a Commissioning Specialist on our team, you will participate in onsite activities to support Data Center Commissioning projects. You will have the opportunity to lead and perform all mechanical commissioning related activities to include testing (QA/QC, Functional Performance) and equipment and systems start-up, resulting in a safe and functional environment that meets established design requirements and stakeholder expectations. Candidate will engage in owner’s L4-L5 Data Center commissioning while overseeing and supporting the L0-L3 commissioning activities. You will have the responsibility of working directly with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve the best possible outcome for the owner/client with a focus on operational performance and efficiency.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience as a mechanical commissioning specialist in activities such as: Utility infrastructure, life safety, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, building/facility systems/components, building automation systems/controls and facility O&M
• 2-3 years of focused experience as a mechanical commissioning specialist on documenting L2/L3 activities and leading L4/L5 testing for Data Center commissioning
• Working knowledge ASHRAE, NFPA and Tab mechanical testing and code requirements
• Understanding of the Construction process
• Must be able to clear a background check
• Ability to travel up to 50%

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Ideally the candidate will reside in the Washington DC or Northern Va Metro area
• Industry recognized commissioning certification
• IR thermography Level 1 or Level 2 certification
• AWS or similar L4 lead certification
• NFPA 70E certification
• OSHA 10 (minimum), OSHA 30 (preferred)
• Experience with IR thermography

The base salary range for this position is $121,000.00 to $211,800.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
