Garmac Limited LLC is seeking a Data Center Commissioning Engineer to join our on-site team in Montgomery, AL. The role focuses on commissioning electrical and mechanical control systems for a large-scale data center program, with an advancement path into a Project Engineer role.

The position requires a BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, comfort with a multimeter, and PLC exposure.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred; hands-on controls experience will also be considered
Comfortable using a multimeter
Exposure to major PLC platforms (Schneider, Rockwell, Siemens) is a plus
Familiarity with Modbus or BACnet is a plus
Able to perform field work 8+ hours per day on an active construction site; standard 45-hour workweeks, Monday through Friday
Coachable, motivated, and eager to learn—we will train the right candidate

Responsibilities

Commission and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical control systems, including HVAC equipment, chillers, fan arrays, and power distribution systems
Perform I/O troubleshooting on hard‑wired points and network communications, including Modbus register‑level diagnostics
Interpret one‑line diagrams, network architecture drawings, and control schematics
Assist with graphics integration on Ignition and AVEVA System Platform
Download, verify, and make basic PLC program edits under the direction of a lead engineer (Schneider Electric, function block diagram)
Document issues clearly, elevate appropriately, and work under a lead within a small field team
