Job summary

SYNERGYFIBER is seeking a Low-Voltage Technician for a temporary assignment in Charlottesville, VA. The role involves assisting the contracting team with project execution and delivering high-quality end-user work.

You will pull and route CAT5/6 cables in data centers or new commercial builds, build telecommunications closets, install cable trays and support systems, terminate RJ45 plugs, and test copper and fiber networks. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Low Voltage Structured Cabling, Access Control, and Coaxial Cabling preferred.
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of OSHA and BICSI codes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pulling and routing CAT5 or CAT6 cable in a DATA CENTER or new construction commercial environment.
• Build out telecommunications closets.
• Install cable support systems which consist of cable tray, h-hooks and ladder tray.
• Install cat 5/6 horizontal station cable, backbone cable, and fiber optic cable and riser systems.
• Install and termination of RG6/RG11 Coaxial Cabling.
• Install specialty systems (security & CCTV) and fire alarm cable.
• Terminate cat 5/6 horizontal 4-pair work-area outlet (modular connector).
• Must be able to terminate RJ45 Plugs.
• Perform copper cable testing (UTP, coax).
• Perform both copper and fiber troubleshooting.
