Job summary

PlanIT Group, LLC in Mesa, AZ is seeking an experienced field technician to support a new data center build by installing fiber trunks, fiber enclosures, and testing fiber. The role covers skilled infrastructure and structured cabling, including low voltage systems and cabinets, racks, and pathway components.

You will diagnose cabling infrastructure, perform upgrades, coordinate with project teams, complete documentation, and ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in technology services or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years' experience installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cabling and fiber systems.
• Experience terminating and testing fiber optic and copper cables including Cat 3/5/6.
• Experience with industry standards (BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA) and NEC compliance.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical/mechanical documents.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and service of low voltage cabling, fiber optic cabling, and related systems.
• Evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems and perform repairs.
• Coordinate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
• Complete required documentation for billing, work orders, and client SLAs.
• Respond to emergencies and meet SLAs.
