Job summary
IES Communications is looking for a Cable Technician I for data center projects in Covington, GA. This onsite contract-to-hire role pays $21.00–$25.00 per hour with overtime, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
You will work on large data center construction sites, pulling fiber and copper cables, installing trays, racks, and terminations, and reading blueprints. PPE is provided; steel-toe boots are required.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of commercial cabling experience.
- Experience pulling fiber optic cable.
- Reliable transportation to the worksite.
- Ability to work in a construction environment.
- Understanding of telecommunications color codes.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Comfortable using cable cutters, drills, and other installation tools.
Responsibilities
- Pulling and routing copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Installing cable trays, conduit, wireway systems, and support structures.
- Building telecommunications closets and equipment rooms.
- Mounting racks, patch panels, backboards, and hardware.
- Performing Cat5e/Cat6 terminations and punch‑downs.
- Assisting with fiber optic installations.
- Reading blueprints, diagrams, and project documentation.
- Working indoors and outdoors on large‑scale data center construction projects.
- Using industry‑standard hand and power tools safely and effectively.
