DATA BASE SYSTEMS-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit)
Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. These positions are as‑needed and require candidates to live within commuting distance to San Diego.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Teach all scheduled classes, including lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
- Be available to students outside of class.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree AND at least two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
- Associate degree AND at least six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
- Equivalent educational and occupational experience that meets the above criteria.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of continuing education students and staff.
Desired Qualifications
- Equivalency documentation or a completed Request for Equivalency Form if the exact degree requirements have not yet been met.
- Foreign degree holders may submit an evaluation from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute (ACEI) professional association.
Licenses / Certificates / Credentials
- Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.

Conditions of Employment
- Submit official college transcripts prior to employment.
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam, renewed every four years.
- Undergo Live Scan fingerprinting at district expense; clearance must be received before first day of employment.
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
