Quartz is seeking a curious, analytical, and technology-driven Data Automation Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Madison, WI. You will work with the Automation Engineering team to support critical business processes and improve reliability across enterprise systems.

You will gain hands-on experience with API integrations, data movement, log analysis, and developing automation tools. The internship includes mentorship, networking, a week-long retreat, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Interest in Data Analytics, Automation Engineering or Systems Administration as a career path.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during Jun–Aug 2027.
• Graduating between December 2027 and May 2028.
• Basic scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash and/or Python.
• Live within a 3-hour radius of Madison, WI and travel to HQ during internship.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and troubleshoot automation workflows and system integrations.
• Analyze logs and data to identify root causes of issues.
• Assist with monitoring, supporting, and maintaining automated processes.
• Collaborate with engineers to resolve support tickets and operational challenges.
• Create and enhance technical documentation for automation solutions.

What You'll Do

As a Data Automation Engineer Intern, you'll work closely with our Automation Engineering team to support critical business processes and help improve the reliability and efficiency of enterprise systems.

Responsibilities may include:

• Have a demonstrated interest in Data Analytics, Automation Engineering, Systems Administration, etc. as a possible career path

• Ability to work 40 hours per week from June to August 2027

• Graduating between December 2027 and May 2028

• Basic scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, and/or python

• Must live within a 3-hour radius of Madison, WI and be willing to travel to headquarters from June to August

• Attend the summer intern program kickoff and retreat (June 1-4, 2027), and final intern presentation (Late July/Early August)

• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring work visa sponsorship from Quartz, now or in the future

Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
