Job description

ActioNet is hiring a Data Architect. This role is remote and based out of Suitland, MD.

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of data solutions, exploring alternatives and evaluating new technologies.
2. Develop and maintain scalable cloud-based data infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.
3. Design and implement ETL pipelines using AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda) to support data requirements and self-service analytics.
4. Collaborate with data domain teams to design and deploy domain-specific data products, adhering to organizational standards.
5. Establish and enforce data governance practices, including compliance with data privacy, access controls, and lineage requirements.
6. Maintain a comprehensive data catalog and governance tools, automating workflows to uphold data integrity and discoverability.
7. Lead the implementation and support of data mesh architecture, ensuring seamless integration and data flow across domains.
8. Ensure the availability and reliability of Data Mesh software, managing operations and maintenance.
9. Provide guidance and leadership on adopting data mesh principles, including training initiatives for data stewards and users.
10. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align technical architecture with business goals.
11. Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 10 years’ experience, or equivalent through certifications or past work.
2. Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Solutions Architect – Professional, DAMA CDMP, Google Data Engineer, Informatica Data Governance, SAFe Agilist, CIPP/US.
3. At least 8 years’ experience designing and implementing data architectures, including data lakes, warehouses, and data mesh frameworks in cloud environments.
4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience with AWS data services for scalable cloud-native solutions.
5. Proven leadership in data governance, privacy, access control, and metadata management.
6. Experience managing data catalogs and automating governance workflows.
7. Ability to lead organizational adoption of data mesh principles through training and stakeholder engagement.
8. Strong collaboration skills to align technical architecture with business objectives.
9. Experience overseeing operations and maintenance of enterprise Data Mesh software.
