Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) seeks a Data Architect to lead enterprise data architecture in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with a TS/SCI clearance and be eligible to obtain a CI Poly.

The role focuses on building secure, federated data platforms, enabling MBSE workflows, Digital Threads, and lifecycle traceability across multiple enclaves. You will collaborate with government partners and engineering teams to govern data across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of data architecture experience.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAM Level II requirements (e.g., CISSP or Sec+).
• Strong experience designing data models, ontologies, schemas, APIs, metadata frameworks and distributed data architectures.
• Proven experience with relational, graph and time-series databases; metadata/cataloging systems; and modern ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., Argo Workflows).
• Experience in Scrum or Agile development teams.

Responsibilities

• Leads the architecture, deployment, and sustainment of the Cloud Native Platform (CNP) powering MBSE, data integration, Digital Threads, and Digital Twin operations.
• Build and mature a secure, federated, multi-cloud platform enabling enterprise-scale Digital Engineering workflows and data synchronization across enclaves.
• Collaborate with tech leads and engineers to ensure interoperable pipelines and lifecycle traceability across the DEE.
• Define data models, schemas, metadata structures, APIs, and governance rules that turn distributed data into authoritative assets.
• Serve as enterprise lead for data architecture, governance, modeling, and integration across DEE.
• Lead and mentor data engineers to scale the enterprise data layer including relational, graph, time-series, and metadata systems.
