Job summary

3Cloud is seeking a Data Architect to join the Managed Services team. You will support and advance a client’s Azure Data Platform and Power BI environment, handling incidents and proactive maintenance.

You will design data pipelines, governance, and AI-driven solutions while mentoring junior engineers and engaging with clients on licensing and architecture. HIPAA considerations are central to the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/Math/related field.
  • Experience in a support role for data platforms and healthcare environments.
  • Strong SQL/Spark SQL performance and data pipeline design.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA-compliant data architectures and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead support of client’s Azure Data platform and Power BI environment, handle escalations.
  • Consult, develop, and advise on Microsoft Azure solutions (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI).
  • Design and deploy data pipelines and models; mentor junior team members.
  • Create architectural documentation mapping source systems into the data platform.
  • Promote best practices and contribute to internal communities.

This Data Architect position is a member of 3Cloud's Managed Services team. He or she is responsible for ongoing development, support, escalations, and proactive maintenance for our client's Azure Data Platform solution through the Managed Services teams processes, procedures, and tools. As a Data Architect, you will be a critical part of our core team that is essential to the success of our Managed Services division.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead support of client's Azure Data platform and Power BI Environment, including response to any escalations while helping to analyze and resolve incidents for customers environment.
  • Consult, develop, and advise on solutions in Microsoft Azure with tools such as Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Azure ML, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Power BI.
  • Consult, develop, and advise on Power BI, including governance, strategy, report development, performance.
  • Consistently learn, apply, and refine skills around data engineering and data analytics.
  • Proactively mentors junior team members and actively gives feedback on their work and performance.
  • Design and deploy data pipelines, models, and AI-driven solutions for clients in various industries.
  • Understand and work with customers on licensing involving Microsoft data solutions and understand the limits/advantages of each licensing platform.
  • Takes responsibility for the quality of deliverables and solutions.
  • Supports and participates in the estimating of work to be done by self and others.
  • Communicate ticket status information to all associated parties and elevate cases as appropriate.
  • Interact with clients to identify issues, troubleshoot expediently, and follow up on issues via e-mail, ticketing system, and phone calls. Communicate technical issues and solutions with clients in business terms.
  • Intentionally builds relationships with client teams.
  • Prioritizes work appropriately, asks questions when priorities are unclear, and completes work accordingly.
  • Quickly recognizes when escalation is needed and promptly acts.
  • Create and maintain updated documentation for each client's environment.
  • Promote best practices for clients and internally to enhance and improve organizational processes.
  • Periodically contributes to one or more 3Cloud internal communities.
Architecture & Solution Design
  • Ability to design large-scale Databricks Lakehouse architectures for healthcare environments.
  • Deep understanding of Delta Lake patterns, medallion architecture, optimization and governance.
  • Skilled at designing ingestion frameworks, transformation models, semantic layers, and orchestration patterns.
  • Experience evaluating and improving existing data platforms, codebases, and pipelines.
Technical Leadership
  • Ability to guide a team of engineers on best practices, code reviews, standards, and design patterns.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions with clients.
  • Create architectural documentation, mapping ~80-100 source systems into the data platform.
Enterprise Data Skills
  • Advanced SQL/Spark SQL performance expertise.
  • Experience handling large codebases (100k+ LOC) and high-volume ingestion workloads.
  • Experience with orchestration (ADF, Fabric, Databricks workflows, or similar).
Healthcare Data Expertise
  • Strong familiarity with multi-source healthcare environments: Epic Clarity, Caboodle, Health Catalyst, claims, EHR, scheduling, etc.
  • Understanding of data quality issues common in clinical and operational systems.
  • Experience architecting solutions that meet HIPAA-compliant requirements.
Power Platform & Accelerator Awareness
  • Ability to understand the Health Catalyst Power Platform accelerator at an architectural level.
  • Define extension patterns and integration approaches between Databricks and Power Platform.
Soft Skills
  • Strong client-facing communication and consulting presence.
  • Ability to work across delivery and managed services teams.
  • Able to set standards, train others, and support a train-the-trainer model.
Qualifications
