Job summary

Finzly is seeking a highly skilled Data Architect in Charlotte to design, implement, and manage scalable data systems for operational and analytics. You will drive data modeling, cloud-native architectures, and modern data platforms to enable business-driven decision-making.

The role requires expertise in SQL, data modeling, and both relational and NoSQL databases, plus hands-on cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Qualifications

• Experience designing and managing large-scale data platforms for operational and analytical workloads.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, and database optimization skills.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Knowledge of data processing, integration patterns, batch/streaming architectures, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with data migration and legacy system modernization; ability to assess trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modernize scalable data platforms supporting operational and analytical workloads.
• Develop conceptual and logical data models aligned to business outcomes.
• Define modernization strategies for large, multi-year platform programs.
• Lead data migration efforts involving legacy systems and cloud-native platforms.
• Apply security, privacy, and resiliency principles across architectures.
• Evaluate technologies and provide architecture recommendations based on business needs.
• Ensure data quality and insights generation for AI/ML and API-driven use cases.

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to design, implement, and manage scalable data systems and architectures. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data modeling, cloud technologies, and modern data platform design, enabling business-driven decision-making and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience designing, building, and modernizing large-scale, resilient, and high‑performance data platforms supporting both operational and analytical workloads
• Ability to develop conceptual and logical data models aligned for business outcomes
• Ability to define phase‑wise modernization and implementation strategies for large, multi‑year platform programs.
• Strong experience with data migration strategies and patterns, especially involving legacy systems and cloud-native platforms
• Strong SQL experience in data modeling, performance tuning and database recommendations
• Experience in AWS RDS, NO-SQL database
• Deep understanding of relational and non‑relational data stores, with the ability to clearly articulate architectural trade-offs
• Strong knowledge of data processing, data movement, and integration patterns across batch, streaming, and event‑driven architectures
• Expertise in evaluating, prototyping, and recommending technologies based on business, architectural, and operational needs
• Strong understanding of resiliency, security, privacy, and cloud deployment patterns
• Proven experience in data quality, large‑scale data analysis, pattern identification, and insight generation
• Experience designing data stores optimized for various consumption patterns, including operational, analytical, AI/ML, and API‑driven use cases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong experience in data architecture and platform design
• Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and database optimization
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Strong understanding of:
  • Data processing and integration patterns
  • Batch and streaming architectures
  • Data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Experience with data migration and legacy system modernization
• Ability to analyze trade‑offs and make architectural decisions
• Strong understanding of security, privacy, and scalability principles

Preferred / Nice to Have:

• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, etc.)
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks
• Familiarity with AI/ML data pipelines
• Exposure to event‑driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
