Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Lunar Data Applications Engineer to build data models, craft intuitive visuals, and provide analyses that support Lunar Permanence programs and leadership decisions. Qualifications

  • 4+ years SQL experience with either Python, and/or Spark as a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience with GenAI tools to generate, review, and deploy code, especially data reporting tools.
  • Experience with professional visualization tools (Databricks/Tableau/PowerBI, etc.).
  • Experience working with customers to gather requirements and present data solutions.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.


As a Lunar Data Applications Engineer, you are responsible for building data models, crafting intuitive visuals, and providing analysis that helps Blue Origin build a road to the Moon. Within the Lunar business operations organization, we build relationships with budget owners to technical design teams that cover the design, build, and operate lifecycle. Our team accelerates program operations and strengthens the value of analytics in modern aerospace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and builds data models supporting Lunar program planning, tracking configuration, schedule, and technical performance across Lunar Permanence programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion For Our Mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • 4+ years SQL experience with either Python, and/or Spark as a plus
  • Demonstrable experience with GenAI tools to generate, review, and deploy code, especially data reporting tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Databricks Apps)
  • Experience with professional visualization tools (e.g. Databricks / Tableau / PowerBI / etc.)
  • Experience working with customers to gather requirements and present data solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years building models and reports with Databricks (preferably with Certified Data Analyst Associate)
  • Experience using Git, Gitlab for code management (Branching / Merging, CI/CD, Variables, Deployment)
  • Experience building automated data pipelines using Python, DBSQL, and/or Spark
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and tools (ECS, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
  • Experience with hierarchical data structures, especially with hardware bill of materials and production plans
  • Domain knowledge in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and/or aerospace

Base Pay Range for WA applicants

$141,162.00 - $197,626.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
