Job summary

Arch offers an 8‑week summer internship in Farmington, CT, with a hybrid work setup (4 days onsite, 1 day remote). You will collaborate with Data & Analytics, design ETL pipelines, integrate data into the data warehouse, and develop Power BI reports that drive business insights.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data analytics, data science, computer engineering, CS, IS, math or related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Sophomore, junior or senior with graduation between Dec 2027 and May 2029.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a continuous learner.
  • Fundamental understanding of data warehousing, ETL concepts, BI and data integration.
  • Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI or similar tools preferred.
  • Curiosity about AI, ML, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted analytics.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and SDLC practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL; Python/Spark experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Data and Analytics on projects that support critical business priorities.
  • Design ETL processes, develop data pipelines, and implement validation controls for data accuracy.
  • Integrate data from source systems, databases, APIs into the data warehouse per business needs.
  • Support data quality with validation, profiling and cleansing techniques.
  • Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards delivering insights.
  • Troubleshoot data sources, ETL processes, pipelines and storage issues.
  • Stay current with data warehousing, analytics, cloud platforms and responsible AI practices.
  • Explore and apply AI-enabled tools to boost productivity and automate tasks.
  • Recommend improvements to data warehouse and analytics solutions and support new capabilities.

About This Internship

Arch’s 8-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.

About This Role
  • Collaborate with the Data and Analytics team and business partners on projects that support critical business priorities.
  • Design ETL processes, develop data pipelines, and support the implementation of validation controls to help ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Integrate data from source systems, databases, APIs, and third‑party applications into the segment data warehouse based on business needs.
  • Support data quality activities by applying validation, profiling, and cleansing techniques to help ensure data is accurate, complete, and fit for business use.
  • Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards that provide meaningful insights into business operations.
  • Troubleshoot and help resolve issues related to data sources, ETL processes, data pipelines, and data storage.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in data warehousing, analytics, cloud platforms, and responsible AI‑assisted development.
  • Explore and apply AI‑enabled tools to improve productivity, automate repeatable tasks, support data quality analysis, and accelerate insight generation.
  • Recommend improvements to existing data warehouse and analytics solutions and support implementation of new capabilities that leverage modern technologies.
Qualifications
  • Actively completing a bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related program.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • College level – Sophomore, Junior or Senior student with graduation dates between December 2027 and May 2029.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.
  • Basic understanding of data warehousing, ETL concepts, business intelligence, and data integration patterns required.
  • Exposure to tools or platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI, or similar database and ETL and reporting tool technologies strongly preferred.
  • Curiosity and foundational knowledge of AI, machine learning, prompt engineering, or AI‑assisted analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and software development lifecycle practices
  • Proficiency or strong coursework experience in SQL required and Python/Spark preferred with the ability to use AI‑assisted tools responsibly to improve development, analysis, and problem‑solving outcomes required.
  • Team player who collaborates effectively.
  • Self‑starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Location & Work Arrangement
  • The program dates are June 2, 2027 – July 23, 2027.
  • This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 4 days onsite and 1 days from home.
  • This position is located in Farmington, CT.
  • Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.

Pay

For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Farmington, CT, the hourly rate is $26-28 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
