Job summary

Arch Capital invites students to participate in an 8-week summer internship focused on data analytics and engineering. You will collaborate with the Data and Analytics team, design ETL processes, build data pipelines, and create Power BI dashboards to drive actionable insights.

The role is hybrid, based in Farmington, CT, with 4 days onsite and 1 day from home. The internship offers a competitive hourly rate and benefits eligibility, and starts June 2, 2027 through July 23, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Actively completing a bachelor's degree in data analytics, data science, computer engineering, computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, or a related program.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior with graduation between December 2027 and May 2029.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to be a continuous learner.
  • Basic understanding of data warehousing, ETL concepts, BI, and data integration patterns.
  • Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI or similar tools is strongly preferred.
  • Curiosity and foundational knowledge of AI, ML, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Proficiency or strong coursework experience in SQL; Python/Spark preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Data and Analytics team on projects supporting critical business priorities.
  • Design ETL processes, develop data pipelines, and validate controls for data accuracy and reliability.
  • Integrate data from source systems, databases, APIs into the data warehouse as needed.
  • Support data quality activities with validation, profiling, and cleansing.
  • Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards for meaningful insights.
  • Troubleshoot data sources, ETL processes, pipelines, and storage issues.
  • Stay current with data warehousing, analytics, cloud platforms, and responsible AI practices.
  • Explore and apply AI-enabled tools to improve productivity and accelerate insights.

About This Internship

Arch's 8-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.

About This Role
  • Collaborate with the Data and Analytics team and business partners on projects that support critical business priorities.
  • Design ETL processes, develop data pipelines, and support the implementation of validation controls to help ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Integrate data from source systems, databases, APIs, and third-party applications into the segment data warehouse based on business needs.
  • Support data quality activities by applying validation, profiling, and cleansing techniques to help ensure data is accurate, complete, and fit for business use.
  • Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards that provide meaningful insights into business operations.
  • Troubleshoot and help resolve issues related to data sources, ETL processes, data pipelines, and data storage.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in data warehousing, analytics, cloud platforms, and responsible AI-assisted development.
  • Explore and apply AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, automate repeatable tasks, support data quality analysis, and accelerate insight generation.
  • Recommend improvements to existing data warehouse and analytics solutions and support implementation of new capabilities that leverage modern technologies.
Qualifications

  • Exposure to tools or platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI, or similar database and ETL and reporting tool technologies strongly preferred.
  • Curiosity and foundational knowledge of AI, machine learning, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and software development lifecycle practices
  • Proficiency or strong coursework experience in SQL required and Python/Spark preferred with the ability to use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve development, analysis, and problem-solving outcomes required.
  • Team player who collaborates effectively.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Location & Work Arrangement

The program dates are June 2, 2027 - July 23, 2027. This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 4 days onsite and 1 days from home. This position is located in Farmington, CT. Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.

Pay

For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Farmington, CT, the hourly rate is $26-28 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future.
