Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio Emergency Medical Services seeks a Data Analytics Specialist to turn complex EMS data into actionable dashboards. You will work with Epidemiology Investigators to identify patterns, collect and document requirements, and present findings accessibly to non-technical stakeholders.

The ideal candidate analyzes data across EMSIRS and OTR systems using Tableau and SAS, ensures data quality, and guides leaders on interpretation of results for program

Qualifications

  • 48 months of experience in data analytics or statistical analysis or research methods.
  • Associate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field with 0+ years of experience.
  • Undergraduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field with 0+ years of experience.
  • Graduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field with 0+ years of experience.
  • 36 months of experience as a Data Analytics Associate, 66930, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Researches complex data requests & collaborates with Epidemiology Investigators to identify business problems & opportunities to create dashboards to help management identify new data trends & recommend new solutions.
  • Collects, analyzes, & documents business requirements for project proposals; Employs analytical results to address business problems & opportunities in formats accessible to non technical staff & stakeholders.
  • Supports data specialists & scientists in guiding business leaders regarding interpretation & applicability of findings (e.g., program effectiveness, resource allocation, patient care best practices, impact on & patient outcomes, etc.).
  • Identifies & validates data sets; Identifies missing or incomplete data & variables in the EMSIRS & OTR data; Analyzes relevant data to understand business patterns & trends.
  • Works with Epidemiology Investigators to investigate & resolve data discrepancies across EMS data systems.
  • Utilizes Tableau & SAS to complete data visualization requests using EMSIRS & Ohio Trauma Registry (OTR).

What You'll Do As a Data Analytics Specialist

Qualification Options
Option 1

48 mos. exp. in data analytics or statistical analysis or research methods.

Option 2
  • Or completion of associate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field;
  • AND 30 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
Option 3
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field;
  • AND 24 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
Option 4
  • Or completion of graduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field;
  • AND 12 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
Option 5
  • Or 36 mos. exp as a Data Analytics Associate, 66930.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
