Job summary

City of Shakopee, MN seeks a data analytics–oriented intern to support EHS technology and data initiatives. You will help implement Cority, develop Power BI dashboards, and analyze data across systems to drive continuous improvement.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree pursuit in a related field, 0 years of experience, and in-person full-time work. This position offers hands-on experience with real-world business processes and collaboration with IT and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support EHS technology and data initiatives and assist system integration projects.
  • Assist in implementing and enhancing Cority with data management, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for EHS performance and metrics.
  • Analyze data from multiple systems to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist workflow automation projects to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Collaborate with EHS, Operations, and IT to align solutions with business needs.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and documentation of processes and systems.
  • Evaluate automation tools like Cority and Wrike to improve workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and liaison between operations and IT.
  • Gain exposure to automation, AI, and data-driven processes.

Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Support EHS technology and data initiatives by assisting with system integration projects that improve efficiency, visibility, and business decision-making.
  • Assist in the implementation and enhancement of Cority by supporting data management, reporting, and process improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into EHS performance, compliance, and operational metrics.
  • Analyze and mine data from multiple business systems to identify trends, opportunities, and recommendations that support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist with workflow automation projects, including the New Material Process Review (NMPR) process, to improve efficiency and reduce manual administrative activities.
  • Collaborate with EHS, Operations, and IT teams to support system integration efforts and ensure technology solutions align with business needs.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and documentation of business processes, workflows, and system enhancements.
  • Help evaluate automation tools and platforms, including Cority and Wrike, to support streamlined business processes and improved workflow management.
  • Provide support in translating business requirements into technical solutions while serving as a liaison between operational and IT teams.
  • Gain exposure to emerging technologies, including automation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven business processes that support operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI

Familiarity with data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development

Understanding of business process automation concepts and workflow tools

Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Power Platform, SQL, or similar analytical tools

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Prior internship, project, or leadership experience demonstrating technical and business collaboration

Interest in applying technology solutions within manufacturing, operations, or EHS environments
