Job summary

Mortenson's Data Analytics & Insights Intern program (May – August 2027) gives you hands-on experience from day one, working with project teams to drive smarter decisions and stronger performance across markets.

You’ll support BI projects, build analyses and dashboards, and use Excel, Python, R, and SQL to visualize KPIs and develop predictive insights while gaining mentorship and real project impact. Mortenson is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Math, or other related degree.
• Preferred: Have previous related internship experience.
• Preferred: Undergraduate junior status.
• Preferred: Basic understanding of construction and generally accepted business practices.
• Preferred: Experience with data analysis/data science software (Excel, Python, R, SQL).
• Preferred: Experience or familiarity in data visualization or reporting.
• Demonstrate collaboration, communication, problem-solving, initiative and leadership.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

As our Data Analytics & Insights Intern, you will provide administrative and analytical support to the Data Analytics & Insights team, assisting in providing strategic insight and operational support to maximize business and financial performance.

Highlights of your time with this Mortenson internship will include:

• Supporting our team with the implementation of exciting business intelligence projects including assisting in the development of analyses, reports, and dashboards for internal customers
• Drafting required technical documentation and associated training to ensure the integrity and successful use of implemented dashboards and other data analyses
• Utilizing various database, data visualization, and data science tools to help us to create the required calculation and visualize customized key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Supporting the development of tools utilized for the creation of predictive analyses
• Assistance with ad hoc projects as assigned

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Math, or other related degree

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have previous related internship experience
• Are currently enrolled as an undergraduate junior
• Have a basic understanding of construction and generally accepted business practices
• Have experience or familiarity with data analysis/data science software, specifically Excel, Python, R, SQL scripting language
• Have experience or familiarity in the field of data visualization or reporting
• Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills and show initiative and leadership
• Showcase a positive and professional attitude and solid customer service skills
• Are detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively handle multiple competing priorities

The hourly wage for college Interns starts at $18. Students may be paid higher wages based on their year in school.
