Job summary

The Agency for Health Care Administration is seeking a Data Base Consultant in Tallahassee to lead analytics, performance measurement, and data methodology development. The role evaluates program data, identifies trends, and crafts visualizations to support statewide decisions.

The Data Scientist ensures data integrity, defines data definitions, and advises on data requirements for a grants management system, translating complex results for senior leadership and partners.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in data analytics, program evaluation, or related data science roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, public health, epidemiology, mathematics, CS, or related field can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Preference for experience with state or federal health programs, grants management, or reporting architecture.
• Master’s degree in data science, statistics, public health, epidemiology, mathematics, CS, or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the program’s primary data expert for analytics, reporting frameworks, data methodologies, and measurement design.
• Analyze large and complex datasets with SAS, SPSS, R, or similar tools.
• Use GIS tools to identify spatial trends and regional performance patterns.
• Develop methods for validating and interpreting program data and defining business rules.
• Build outcome metrics and dashboards to roll data up to statewide measures and drill down to regions and sub awardees.
• Create dashboards, visualizations, and presentations that convey findings clearly.
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries and standardized data definitions for uniform reporting.
• Contribute to design of the grants management tool by defining data specs and reporting architecture.
• Produce reports and summaries that translate analytics into accessible language for diverse audiences.
• Identify data anomalies and collaborate to improve data quality and submission processes.
• Deliver presentations to senior leadership, federal partners, sub awardees, and stakeholders.
