Job description

Maxar is currently seeking a Data Analyst to join our team. This role will be performed at our Maxar facility located in Herndon, Virginia, and at the customer site in Springfield, VA.

As a Maxar team member, you will support our mission partners, with your work impacting mission imperatives. You will collaborate closely with software developers, other data SMEs, and our infrastructure and cybersecurity teams, utilizing open-source tools to create and maintain various applications.

What You'll Be Doing:
  1. Performing and developing data evaluation and assessment efforts.
  2. Shaping data engineering approaches for analytic tradecraft improvements.
  3. Identifying and documenting gaps within our data corpus and analytical capabilities.
  4. Working with software developers to field requirements and provide feedback on application changes.
  5. Supporting end-users with SME assistance for data or application inquiries.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Current/active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
  • Experience in establishing repeatable data evaluation processes and communicating findings.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical data types, including telemetry and telecommunication protocols.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or similar role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong time-management skills, able to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience collaborating with software engineers on technical implementations.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages like Python, SQL, Spark, or PySpark.
  • Ability to work on-site in Herndon, VA, with flexibility for Springfield, VA.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Comfort with briefing government leadership.
  • Experience in Activity-Based Intelligence or Pattern of Life analysis.
  • Applying and documenting innovative analytic methodologies.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Familiarity with Gitlab, Jupyter Notebooks, or Zeppelin.
  • Experience working with intelligence analysts or special operations customers.
