Job summary

Tenable, Inc. is seeking a Data Analyst within our Business Intelligence organization to turn operational and customer data into actionable reports and dashboards that drive business decisions.

You will partner with sales compensation and other teams to gather requirements, document technical specs, and build data assets with strong context engineering for AI-driven querying.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years in BI, reporting, or data analysis.
• Hybrid office access in Columbia, MD or Boston, MA, three days weekly.
• SQL proficiency with joins, aggregations, filtering, and selects.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar lakehouse platforms.

Role overview

This Data Analyst position sits within a Business Intelligence organization, turning operational and customer data into actionable reports and dashboards that drive business decisions. The role partners directly with internal business teams such as sales compensation to gather requirements, document technical specifications, and build user-friendly data assets, with a notable focus on context engineering so that data is discoverable and accurately queried by AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Gather reporting requirements from internal business stakeholders and document technical specifications
• Write SQL views and build dashboards directly within Databricks using engineering-populated data
• Add structured descriptions and metadata to tables, views, and columns to support AI-driven discovery and natural language querying
• Validate report accuracy and monitor data quality across owned data assets
• Maintain documentation of reporting logic, definitions, and lineage for long-term reliability
• Leverage AI coding agents such as Databricks Genie or Claude to assist in writing and optimizing queries

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, or data analysis
• Hybrid schedule with the ability to commute to a Columbia, MD or Boston, MA office three days per week
• Fundamental SQL proficiency including joins, aggregations, filtering, and select statements
• Working proficiency with Databricks, a comparable lakehouse, or a cloud data platform such as Snowflake
• Experience building dashboards in Databricks native dashboards, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Prior experience writing table and column descriptions or metadata for data catalogs, semantic layers, or natural language query tools
• Python or PySpark experience within Databricks notebooks
• Familiarity with analytics engineering practices such as dbt or version control systems like Git
• Experience in enterprise software, SaaS, or cybersecurity environments
