Job summary

DLH Corp is seeking a Public Health Data Analyst to support CDC projects in Atlanta, GA. The role uses R, SQL, Python, and BI tools to manage data, build dashboards, and deliver actionable insights for HIV prevention programs.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensure data quality across sources, and develop processes for data governance and reporting while working in a hybrid Atlanta office.

Qualifications

• 2 years of strong demonstrated experience working with R, SQL, or Python (developing scripts from scratch).
• Experience with multiple data sources to monitor and assess data quality.
• SAS experience (at least some).
• Power BI or Tableau experience.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• MUST be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Overview

DLH Corp is looking for a Public Health Data Analyst using R, Power BI, and SAS to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. This is a hybrid work environment based out of Atlanta. Teleworking most days with visits to the CDC campus for in-person meetings and office visits.

Responsibilities

CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) is charged with preventing HIV infection and reducing the incidence of HIV-related illness and death. The overarching objectives of the contract held by DLH are to assist DHP in addressing its public health mission by providing data management, data governance, data analysis, and data dissemination support to strengthen the nationwide capacity to monitor the HIV epidemic. As such, DLH is seeking an Atlanta-based Data Analyst with the following skills:

• Conduct geospatial and molecular HIV analysis and interpret results using R, SQL, or Python.
• Work collaboratively with other analysts to develop novel code in support of analyses.
• Support dissemination and reporting of data to internal and external partners.
• Review data error logs to ensure that requested data modifications are done according to the protocol.
• Review the data files to document problems and proposed corrections needed to be made to finalize the data set.
• Document problems with the R program and any proposed corrections needed to finalize the data.
• Merge data from different sources into spreadsheets; conduct necessary steps to ensure quality of the resulting merge.
• Assist with developing data management processes and protocols.
• Provide updates to team members regarding the status of projects.
• Develop from the ground up or manage previously created dashboards within Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, or related field.
• 2 years of strong demonstrated experience working with R, SQL, or Python (developing scripts from scratch, not just exposure).
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple data sources to monitor and assess data to ensure data quality, including accuracy and completeness.
• SAS (at least some experience, not expertise).
• Power BI or Tableau (at least some experience).
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and apply skills to challenging projects.
• Clear communication (written and verbal).
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or related field.
• Experience with Databricks.
• Experience working with surveillance data.
• Knowledge of HIV, molecular data, and public health surveillance systems.
• Experience with large (>500,000 observations), document-based datasets.
• Detail-oriented and able to create meticulous documentation of variables, datasets, and data attributes with a commitment to generating accurate data and products.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with HIV Surveillance and/or molecular disease detection data.

Basic Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 yearly salary

The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
