Qualifications

Job description

The Data Analyst will help southeastern University make data-informed decisions by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information from multiple systems, then delivering actionable insights to campus stakeholders. The role supports departmental reporting and scalable data solutions, including AI-assisted analytics and visualization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze data from enterprise systems such as SIS, CRM, LMS, and financial systems to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support institutional reporting across enrollment, retention, financial, and operational metrics
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives and executive decision-making
  • Design and develop dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms
  • Create intuitive, user-friendly visualizations that promote self-service data use across departments
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in reporting definitions and metric calculations
  • Use AI-powered tools (including generative AI and automated analytics platforms) to accelerate data exploration, pattern recognition, and insight generation
  • Apply AI for data preparation, anomaly detection, forecasting, and natural language querying of datasets
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing AI tools that enhance analytics capabilities across the institution
  • Support responsible and ethical use of AI in data analysis and reporting
  • Coordinate with data engineers and IT teams to access and integrate data from multiple sources
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across reporting systems
  • Support centralized data warehouse or data platform development
  • Help define and maintain data standards and documentation
  • Partner with campus stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver meaningful solutions
  • Provide training and support for end users accessing and interpreting data
  • Contribute to a university culture of data literacy and data-informed decision-making
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and/or data querying languages
  • Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Business, or a related field.

Preferred: Master’s in computer science or related discipline.

Location and Schedule

Location: Lakeland, FL (hybrid). Main campus hybrid with some remote, some main campus, and/or other physical locations.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day.

  • Knowledge of FERPA and other privacy regulations for educational data
  • Experience with data governance practices in an educational setting
  • Familiarity with educational assessment frameworks and accreditation reporting standards
  • Agile methodology proficiency
  • Experience with Python, Microsoft Access, Excel, and additional languages such as Java or Scala
  • Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS, R, or ML
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Jenzabar
  • Comprehensive understanding of database fundamentals and information systems
Work Environment, Training, and Safety

  • New hires have a 90-day probationary period and will be evaluated during that time
  • Required compliance training includes Essential data and analytics training
  • Employees must report unsafe conditions or practices and near-miss incidents to their supervisor and Risk Management
  • Work-related injuries must be reported to Security and Human Resources; injury or accident reports must be submitted to Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident
  • In emergency situations, employees must report for or remain at work as required
