About The Role

The Risk Adjustment Analytics Principal plays a pivotal role within Providence Health Plan, serving as the primary technical resource and strategic business partner for the Risk Adjustment department. This leadership position involves developing advanced analytical tools, metrics, and reports to enhance the organization’s Risk Adjustment strategies. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strategic insight to support decision-making processes and optimize financial performance. The Principal collaborates closely with various departments including Data Analytics, Actuarial, Compliance, and Finance, ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of analytical excellence across the organization. The successful candidate will stay abreast of healthcare trends, Risk Adjustment regulations, and emerging analytics methodologies to maintain Providence’s competitive edge and compliance standards. This remote position offers flexibility for applicants residing in Washington, Oregon, or California, with the opportunity to impact healthcare delivery positively through data-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering/Physics, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related highly quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data analysis at a decision-making level, or High School Education/equivalent with at least 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in data analysis, reporting, and analytics techniques.
  • Experience working within healthcare organizations or health insurance sectors preferred.
  • Formal training or coursework in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Total Quality Management (TQM), and statistical process control methodologies is advantageous.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present complex data insights clearly.
  • Ability to stay current with healthcare trends, Risk Adjustment regulations, and advanced analytics techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain regular communication with Risk Adjustment leadership to prioritize reporting and analytics initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement advanced analytics tools, metrics, and reports to support Risk Adjustment strategies and performance optimization.
  • Provide expert-level analytical support to Finance and Risk Adjustment leadership to drive performance and revenue outcomes.
  • Organize, prepare, and distribute complex analyses and operational reports utilizing multiple data systems and sources.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards across all analytics activities.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance data collection, reporting efficiency, and analytic methodologies.
  • Mentor junior analysts and foster a culture of continuous learning and analytical excellence within the Data Analytics team.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments such as Actuarial, Network, Compliance, and external agencies including CMS and state regulators.
  • Stay informed on healthcare trends, regulatory changes, and emerging analytics technologies to adapt strategies accordingly.
