Job Summary

The purpose of the Data Analyst and Systems Manager position is to manage and analyze data, develop insights and data visualizations, and maintain the systems that support our worker and fleet safety initiatives. Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Safety Central Services, the Data Analyst and Systems Manager will play a crucial role in leveraging data to enhance worker safety and fleet safety operations. The role must understand relational databases and understand how to set them up at every stage, and then distill that data and information in the way the business needs to consume it. As a member of our corporate safety team, the Data Analyst and Systems Manager will help support national operations for Darling Ingredients.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Gathers, homogenizes, and standardizes data from a variety of sources both digital and non-digital, and set up a relational database.
  • Serves as safety department lead on data analysis, including analyzing and interpreting data from various sources to identify trends, patterns and insights relevant to worker and fleet safety.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and other data visualizations to track safety performance and KPIs, with the appropriate tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to partner and integrate pre-existing business data into new systems.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the database as well as existing and new safety-related systems (Compliance tracker, Ideagen, etc.).
  • Collaborate with IT, the Office of Project Management, and other SMEs to implement systems and ensure back-end data integrations align with objectives.
  • Manage data integrations between HRIS and other systems and platforms to ensure a seamless and standardized flow of data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field. Extensive certifications will be considered.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, data management, data visualization, and system administration, especially with setting up a relational database from start to finish.
  • High level of proficiency with SQL and excel.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: must work well in teams and be able to develop relationships with various levels of management.
  • Willingness to learn Safety.
  • Self-motivated; self-starter.
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in computer science, statistics, or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience data analytics and management.
  • Experience with Python, or R, and other reporting tools Tableau, Alterix, Data Robot, Power BI, etc.
  • Familiarity with and leveraging technology to support organizational initiatives.
  • Familiarity with developing lagging and leading indicator trending, including predictive analytics.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl and crouch.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job duties will be carried out in multiple environments including office, plant, customer location, and transportation vehicles.
