Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our team supporting U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services operations. As a Data Analyst, you will support robust and repeatable data manipulation, analysis, and data visualization using technologies such as SQL, Python, Databricks and Tableau. The ideal candidate is proactive, innovative, process-minded, with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills and a solid background in working with data and quantitative analysis.

The position is a remote/telework role, although full-day attendance at the client location in Camp Springs, MD may be required a few times a month. Local candidates are strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepares big data and implements analytics models using SQL and Python within a Databricks data environment. Works with various types of data to develop, maintain and enhance reports, analysis and models.
  • Responsible for data mining, data preparation, data profiling and reporting and may lead independently or as part of a team to deliver data or analytic products.
  • Conducts both qualitative and quantitative service operations research using client data, formulates hypotheses, tests them and presents the results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Applies knowledge to determine the accuracy and reasonableness of the data, recommendations, and solutions proposed.
  • Documents and summarizes the results and develops recommended solutions to the customer’s problems. Prepares and conducts analyses and studies, needs/gaps assessments.
  • Uses advanced statistical techniques to identify and measure trends, anomalies, forecast future values and determine other relevant insights.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment and demonstrates hyper attention to detail.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to mathematics, economics, data science, statistics, or computer science
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in data analysis using SQL and Python
  • Strong SQL skills, and the ability to identify issues with data
  • Experience with Databricks or similar cloud-based distributed database technologies
  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with cleaning, managing, optimizing performance and processing large volumes of data
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
  • Ability to gather and interpret large amounts of data and information and quickly recognize what is superfluous and what is relevant using analytical and statistical techniques
  • Proficient written, verbal, and client communication and presentation skills
  • Must be a United States Citizen and able to clear a Public Trust
  • Nice to have prior experience with USCIS or immigration
